About

Backpackers of the Canadian Rockies!

Hi! I’m Richard Morrison of Calgary, Alberta. I go by the nickname of Rick. I am an author and creator in general.

I grew up in Montreal, but have lived in Calgary most of my life. While I have an appreciation for the city life, my passion lies in the great outdoors. I’ve been blessed with living close to the mountains  and while I’ve mostly visited the Rockies on day trips with family and friends, I have recently developed a strong interest in backpacking the backcountry, to pack up and get away from it all.

Mission

I started this web project with hopes of building a future for myself as I get closer to retiring, and to also do something that I believe in. That is to encourage others to get out and be active, to live your life to the fullest and fulfill some of the dreams that you may have only imagined.

Visit the Canadian Rockies!

Get out of the house, and away from the noise and the crowds of the city. Escape to the crisp air of the mountains, the serenity of the forests, and the solitude of the alpine trails to really get back in touch with yourself in a peaceful setting. Marvel at the vastness of the Rockies and the enormity of the Glaciers. Breathe in the fresh smell of pine and listen to the trickles of running glacial brooks that feed aqua colored lakes nestled in ancient bowls surrounded by high crags.

My goal is to give you all of the resources you will need to do just that. I’ve collected and posted links ranging from complete tour packages to do it yourself trip planning, including airlines, hotels, car and RV rentals, National Parks camping reservations, local guides and accommodations including BnB’s, motels, hotels,  and the finest cuisine served in your own luxurious cabin nestled in a pristine mountain valley by Lake O’Hara.

You will also find everything you need to be outfitted for the mountains, whether you are planning on camping in the front country or camping in the backcountry for days at a time, you will find the resources you need to get geared up for your adventure.

Features

Serenity

Went for a short day trip to Moraine Lake with some friends, and of course my dog, Chase. It’s a short hike on the Consolation Lakes Trail to get here. A beautiful spot to just sit and have lunch and enjoy a few moments of serenity.
