Mount Robson Provincial Park
Mount Robson Provincial Park is one of British Columbia’s oldest parks. Named after the Canadian Rockies highest peak, Mount Robson at 3,954 meters or 12,972 feet, the park borders Alberta’s Jasper National Park. It is about 56 minutes from the town of Jasper to the Mount Robson Visitor Centre.
The drive from Edmonton to Jasper is about 3 hrs 45 minutes.
The drive from Calgary to Jasper is about 4 hrs 40 minutes. The drive from Calgary is longer, but the Icefields Parkway route offers up some of the most epic panoramas in the world along the way, including the renowned Athabasca Glacier. There are also many opportunities for close up wildlife sightings along the way.
And remember you still have another 50 minutes or so to the Mount Robson Visitor Centre once you do arrive at Jasper.
While Mount Robson Provincial Park is a great distance from anywhere, really, there is no shortage of wonder to be had in the backcountry. The Berg Lake Trail, at 42 kms, is said to be unbelievably beautiful with water falls and glaciers.
Follow the Valley of a Thousand Falls route to Berg Lake and then choose any of the several trails around the lake, including one to the Summit of Mount Robson, reserved for advanced climbers.

Plan a future trip.
You may have to wait awhile to get reservations at the Kinney Lake Campsite, the Emperor Falls Campsite, the Marmot Campsite or the Berg Lake Campsite right on the shores of Berg Lake, but this could be a trip you want on your bucket list.
Plan your trip carefully as you will want to book up to 3 night stays at different campsites if you plan on doing the whole Berg Lake Trail.
Strongly suggest booking far in advance and booking for campsites stay well into the summer to avoid closures due to melt water and spring storms. Plan for a two to three day camping adventure, and be prepared for wildlife encounters and the possibility of weather swings and cold nights.
