Tonquin Valley
The Tonquin Valley offers some amazing scenery, whether you take to the alpine trails or the valley meadows. Breathtaking views of the Amethyst Lakes splayed out at the base of the Ramparts Mountain Range can be enjoyed by completing your trek in from either Edith Cavell Road, 29 kms south of the town of Jasper or Marmot Road Route, 16 kms from the town of Jasper.
Grizzlies, Black Bear and Mountain Caribou are some of the wildlife you may encounter throughout your trek. Be prepared. See Protection From Wildlife
Best time to plan a visit is from Mid August to Mid September, after the bugs have died down and the trails have dried up, otherwise expect to be on the mosquito buffet as you trek through what may be quite muddy conditions.
